DON2 has second biggest opening ever overseas

Don 2 had the second biggest opening ever in Overseas as it collected around $5.10 million in its first weekend. In UK it had an extended five day weekend. The highest weekend ever is My Name Is Khan with $5.30 million. The film should hold steady on the weekdays in overseas as is its a holiday period and many holidays on the weekdays. The major market numbers for the weekend are as follows.

United Kingdom - £515,000 (5 Days)

North America - $1,675,000

UAE - $1,100,000

Australia - $300,000

Shah Rukh Khan Holidaying In Dubai; Yash Chopra’s Film Shoot Starts In New Year

Shah Rukh Khan left from Mumbai for Dubai with his family on Thursday, December 29. The Don 2 actor will be celebrating the New Year in Dubai with family and friends. Sources close to SRK have told Koimoi.com that the actor plans to return to Mumbai on January 4, 2012.

Shah Rukh will start shooting for Yash Chopra’s next directorial venture in the new year. The first schedule of the much expected film is being organised at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, starting January 8. The schedule will last for four to five days.

Yash Chopra’s yet untitled film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.

Don 2 has taken the second biggest opening ever after My Name Is Khan and below are the biggest openings ever (first three full days) and as can be seen it is totally dominated by Shahrukh Khan starrers. Four of the top five are Shahrukh Khan starrers and 6 of the the top ten are also Shahrukh Khan starrers while Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have a film each.

Shahrukh Khan's upcoming movie will going to be titled JAI.

The latest rumor doing the rounds is that, the Yash Raj movie starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma has been titled "Jai". The movie is a Diwali 2012 release and has music by AR Rahman.

This is not confirmed by Yash Raj yet, but the rumor mill suggests that the movie is going to be titled "Jai".

DON2 continues to do well

Don 2 is sustaining very well on its weekdays as it has collected nearly 6 crore nett on Wednesday and the week is set for a 71-72 crore nett finish for the Hindi version. The first week collections will be the fifth highest ever for the first week after Bodyguard, Ra.One, Dabangg and Three Idiots.

In Mysore, it will emerge the biggest hit of the year beating Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Ra.One. Multiplexes are sustaining very well while single screens are also no levelling out but at low levels.

The first two days may not have recorded bumper collections but sinnce Christmas the day the film has been on a strong run and is likley to record a very good second weekend as well.

SRK talks about DON3.

Don 2 has been getting great audience reviews and Farhan Akhat too has spoken on how he may make a Don 3. Shah Rukh however revealed the filmmaker was not keen on making a sequel to Don 2.

"We were not sure. Farhan was like how many Dons will I continue making! But we were not keen on making Don 2 too! It happened as we loved Don. Likewise, Don 3 may happen you never know. We have kept a scene in Don 2 where there's a slight hint that is given about the sequel. Everyone seems to be liking the action in Don 2, so does Farhan" said Shah Rukh Khan.

Mumbai: Believe it or not but Bollywood hunk Salman Khan is keeping a close tab on the Box Office collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s latest outing ‘Don 2.’

Apparently, Salman has been checking on the Box Office collections of Farhan Akhtar’s film for the past couple of days.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “Salman was keeping an account of the collections of ‘Don 2’ ever since it hit the theatres on December 23. Distributors were calling him up every hour to keep him updated on the latest collections.”

“Salman was even taking down notes. After he had evaluated the weekend collections of the film, Salman was heard telling his friends how it was important not to waste money on film promotions,” the source said.

Interestingly, Salman did not give away his real feeling towards the raging success of ‘Don 2’ as the source added, “He kept a poker straight face. We couldn’t guess how he felt.”

DON 2 has emerged one of the biggest openers in the international markets. Although many theatres/properties were closed on Sunday due to Christmas celebrations, the film has amassed a mammoth total in its opening weekend. The opening weekend gross in Overseas is approx $ 7 million [Rs 37.11 crores], which is fantastic. Bollywood Hungama has the data from major markets, which is as follows…

U.K. BOX-OFFICE

DON 2: In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 5,13,275 [approx. Rs. 4.24 crores] on 77 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 6,666. Note:- Wednesday to Sunday figures [5 days]… The film was playing in limited screens on Sunday, 25 December due to Christmas holiday.

RAJAPATTAI [Tamil]: In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 17,528 [approx. Rs. 14.46 lacs] on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,096.

LADIES VS RICKY BAHL: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 6,206 on 17 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 365. Total: £ 1,64,917 [approx. Rs. 1.36 crores].

FIJI BOX-OFFICE

DON 2: In its opening weekend, the film has collected NZ$ 28,706 [approx. Rs. 11.75 lacs] on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to NZ$ 14,353. Note:- Thursday to Monday figures [5 days].

PAKISTAN BOX-OFFICE

DON 2: The film has grossed $ 327,500 [approx. Rs. 1.73 crores] in its opening weekend. Note:- Friday to Sunday figures [3 days]… According to Reliance, DON 2 is the first Hindi film to be released in North-West Frontier Province.

SOUTH AFRICA BOX-OFFICE

DON 2: The film debuted at 10th position on its opening day and climbed to 3rd position by Sunday.

Don 2 has had a very good first weekend of around 45 crore nett plus for its Hindi version. The approx collections were 14 crore nett on Friday, 14 crore nett on Saturday and 17-17.25 crore nett on Sunday. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions have added around 1.50 crore nett over the weekend.

The business has been best in places like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Bangalore while CP Berar, CI and Bihar have recorded figures that are well below the mark for a big event film. Sunday saw a big jump in single screens in UP and Gujarat but it is probably due to Christmas day holiday as long term single screens may not sustain.

Don 2 is a winner but the weekdays will determine if it can get over the 100 crore nett mark, for that to happen the week will have to finish around the 70 crore nett mark, a first week finish more closer to 65 crore nett will probably mean a 90-92 crore nett final total.

SRK reveals his new year plan.

Shah Rukh Khan will take a break for a couple of days close to New Year's.

Shah Rukh Khan has been working round the clock. When he is not shooting for a film, receiving an international honour, he is seen promoting his film across the globe and then promoting the brands that help him promote his films.

After getting positive reviews from Don 2, the superstar is relieved. He now wishes to take a break for a few days from the movies before he gets back to the grind.

At an event SRK revealed, "I have been working round the clock. Its time I shave my beard, cut my hair, spend time with the kids. I will be off to Dubai with family for 4-5 days, a short break. After which, I will be back to shoot for Yashji's romantic film. We might start the shoot by Jan 8th 2012."

The King is glad that most have liked Don 2. The handwork & fun of making it seems to be paying off said he.

While most girls prefer SRK in a romantic film, the superstar should know, the ladies thought he looked his sexiest best in Don 2.
