Shahrukh Khan has always been very vocal and expressive about the way he feels for people. While many stars are reluctant to show their liking for people, SRK is one actor who likes to embrace and kiss to show his affection for people. Whether it be on stage or off stage, SRK manages to woo the crowd with his innate charm. He is known to hug even strangers and shower affection on them. Shah Rukh Khan makes wife Gauri nervous!

While SRK may be a pro at giving interviews, wife Gauri is still at a nascent stage. So, when she was getting ready to give a recent interview and Shah Rukh walked into the room, the lady tried to shoo him away, saying that his presence made her nervous. Not to be outdone, SRK told her that he would only sit beside her silently, and motivate her. The badshah of Bollywood kept his promise and kept quiet, but his impish looks had everyone in the room pretty distracted. Finally, the actor left the room when Gauri gave him one ‘final’ look, but not before giving her a kiss on the forehead Courtesy: Mid-Day.com Source:http://www.santabanta.com/cinema.asp?pid=54817

I am not a people’s person: Gauri Khan

She’s Shah Rukh Khan’s wife, but apart from glimpses of her at swanky parties, we don’t hear much from Gauri Khan. The star wife admits, “I’m okay with pictures, but when it comes to interviews, it’s an effort, because you have to think and say the right thing. It’s too much of an effort, unless it’s work-based. I don’t like interviews. I’m not an actor or a model, so I don’t need to promote myself.” But this may soon be a thing of the past, as Gauri is now designing penthouses for Kolte Patil Developers, for which she may have to do promotions. “Here, I’m promoting a brand which is my work. I don’t want to promote myself as a personality. It’s no use to me. I am not a people’s person. I’m reserved and have nothing against the media,” she states. Gauri has turned interior designer without professional training. But she justifies that. “Learning is self-taught,” she says. “I learned when I travelled, saw architecture in Berlin and Paris, read books, surfed the net and visited homes, bars and restaurants. I have done screen-printing, worked with charcoal and canvas while in school and college, and while studying at NIFT. I even did a course at the Delhi School of Art, but didn’t take it forward because I got married.” And was Shah Rukh instrumental in her pursuing this career? “He always pushes me to do things. And now that my line is selling well, he’s excited about it. He gives me all the encouragement I need.” Source:http://www.hindustantimes.com/Entertainment/Tabloid/I-am-not-a-people-s-person-Gauri-Khan/Article1-844441.aspx

Who is interested in Shah Rukh Khan?

Things aren’t going as smoothly as Shah Rukh Khan must have been expecting in his life. If it was his US detention last week, Katrina’s recent statement that the star never sent her any expensive gifts, which stands in stark contrast to what a daily had recently reported, brings the actor back in news. If we take the last few weeks into consideration, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the actor has been hitting headlines for not so interesting reasons. SRK’s detention which outraged his fans, didn’t leave the same impact on the politicos. Unaffected by what the actor had to go through, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah didn’t take SRK’s detention seriously. He tweeted, "Honestly what's the big deal?? This airport detention thing happens all the time and to all sorts of people. Get over it." Aamir Khan’s statement in which he said he was never detained at the airport too had many thinking if SRK’s incident was just being exaggerated. At a press conference which was held recently, Aamir while appreciating other Bollywood biggies for their TV projects, comfortably missed SRK’s name. Aamir said, "I loved Amitabhji`s Kaun Banega Crorepati, Hrithik`s dance show. I haven`t seen Bigg Boss but Salman`s Dus Ka Dum. I enjoyed watching these shows". Many thought the actor had snubbed SRK intentionally. A few weeks back we had reported how Salman had insulted SRK. At an event, Salman, in his own style praised the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. But he managed to upset SRK. He said, "Sachin ka record todna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai. Aur yeh Don nahi main bol raha hu." Priyanka Chopra too used her so-called friends to take digs at the superstar. As the number of incidents not working in SRK's favour increase by the day, we wonder if he has become somewhat insignificant. Srk-Vidya teams up for causes

Several fans of actors Vidya Balan and Shah Rukh Khan who were hoping to watch the actors share screen space together, have now got a reason to smile. The two talented actors even though have not signed any film together but are planning to lend their helping hand by getting involved into social cause by backing Centre`s total sanitation campaign which aims at eradicating the practice of open defecation. Apparently, the duo actors would join the Indian Cricketing star Sachin Tendulkar who is already involved with the social cause. Even filmmaker Shyam Benegal is planning to make a movie on the subject of sanitary issues. The news has been confirmed by Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, who also holds the portfolio of Drinking Water and Sanitation. The minister has apparently set a target of ten years to eradicate the issue of sanitation. Source:http://www.supergoodmovies.com/43417/bollywood/srk-vidya-teams-up-for-causes-news-details

Meeting my idol

Shahrukh Khan fanatics hardly ever just write fan mail. They mount his picture on their altars alongside images of holy deities. They wait outside his home for days hoping to see him. One particular fan, Vishal Singh, made it into various Indian news sources for creating a shrine to him, plastering over 22,000 pictures of Khan around his home. He even legally changed his name to “Visharukh Khan.” This vehement adoration is due to pure star power. To have been able to interview Shahrukh Khan, a man who has been equated with God by his admirers, was my dream come true. Bollywood has always been my safety blanket — a way to counteract the seriousness of darker days with color and flair. Shahrukh Khan, in particular, is the embodiment of Hindi cinema for me. His very first film, Deewana released when I was just shy of one year old, while his latest film Don 2 was in theaters this past December. I have grown up with Shahrukh Khan and have consistently fallen for his various cinematic incarnations. When I was 13, Shahrukh Khan released his biographical documentary “The Inner and Outer World of Shahrukh Khan.” I remember standing with my friends amongst hundreds waiting to meet him at a promotional event in New York City. I also remember returning home that night after only seeing the license plate of his car as he drove away. In response to my disappointment that evening, my grandmother tried to placate me, “Don’t strive be someone who stands in a line of a thousand people to meet Shahrukh Khan. Because I know you will be so hardworking, so good and so successful that one day Shahrukh Khan will push a thousand people aside just to meet you.” Sure. Easier said than done, I thought. The whole world lines up to see Shahrukh Khan and I did not have the audacity or the patience to simply sit by the sidelines. When I was first asked to interview Khan, my immediate reaction was a deafening affirmative. But few people know about my surprising second reaction — the feeling in the pit of my stomach telling me to turn it down because I foresaw myself inadvertently acting like a drooling fan rather than a journalist. But it also hit me that I would not be meeting the on-screen hero. After twenty years of getting to know his characters Raj, Rahul and Aman, I would have to meet the real Shahrukh Khan. I feared that the experience would be disenchanting. Would I have to come to terms with the fact that Raj, Rahul and Aman, the same characters to whom I turn when I need a dose of escapist Bollywood after a tough week at Yale, are exactly what I rationally know they are — fiction? Encouraged by my close friends who told me that an interview with King Khan is a once in a lifetime opportunity (and many who said they would fight to take my place if I dared turn it down), I of course kept my promise. Did I make a fool of myself? A little. Particularly when I was under the impression that it was safe to perform a little celebratory dance after our chat because he had already been escorted out of the room (he had not). But was I disenchanted? Not at all. He was humble, he was professional, but above all he was still a star. After speaking with him, however, I did come to terms with the fact that he is human, just a wildly successful human. I learned that he is successful because he is exceedingly intelligent, he is a hard worker, he is in a profession that he loves and he is motivated to work because he wants to improve the lives of those around him. In short, he is someone that we all hope to be. I hope that my grandmother will be proud that I took this opportunity. It would be wrong, however, to say that it transpired exactly how she said it would, that I had gotten this chance because I am successful. I had just gotten lucky. But at least I can tell her that she was partly right — Shahrukh Khan kept almost two thousand people waiting an extra seven minutes so that he could speak with me, and I cannot imagine asking for more than that. Why are Aamir, Salman targeting baadshah Shahrukh Khan?

Salman Khan has in the past taken a dig at Shahrukh Khan many a time. Aamir Khan too seems to have joined the gang and has made it clear that he doesn't like SRK too much!

We all know that Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan are arch rivals and cannot stand each other. In fact, at a recent event, Salman Khan made it clear that he and SRK can never be friends. Aamir Khan, who till recently kept away from the fight, seems to have joined Salman's bandwagon.

During the recent promotion of his TV debut, Satyamev Jayate, Aamir Khan said that among his colleagues who made it big on TV, he admired Amitabh Bachchan (Kaun Banega Crorepati), Hrithik Roshan (Just Dance) and Salman Khan (Dus Ka Dum).

When asked what he thought of Shahrukh Khan who did the third season of KBC, Zor Ka Jhatka and Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hain, Aamir repeatedly evaded the question.

Well, well...we understand that Salman Khan might have some difference of opinion with Shahrukh. But considering that Aamir Khan is a thorough professional and a diplomatic person, one wonders what problem he might have with Shahrukh! What's your take on this guys?

SRK gets nervous while watching KKR play: Juhi

Shah Rukh Khan gets most nervous while watching KKR play says co-owner Juhi Chawla.

Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner actress Juhi Chawla revealed how it is Shah Rukh Khan who gets most nervous while watching his IPL team KKR play.

"I am very superstitious when it comes to KKR. I remember once I was asked for a quick tv interview while our match was going on. We were almost winning and I proclaimed I shall distribute sweets since we were winning. Soon after the interview we lost the match! I now ensure I don't give bytes when the match is still on" revealed Juhi.

Juhi further added, "I however don't get too nervous now. I have come to terms with the fact that it's a game and can swing either ways. Shah Rukh and Jai (Juhi's husband) are the ones who get tense a lot. Shah Rukh in particular gets most nervous though he pretends to behave all calm and composed from the outside."

Shah Rukh's KKR defeated Preity Zinta's King's XI Punjab last night in Mohali.

The Moon of Eid: SRK in the holy kitchen

Shah Rukh Khan features in international chef Vikas Khanna's film that talks about food and spirituality

New York-based international chef and filmmaker Vikas Khanna’s upcoming project The Moon of Eid features Shah Rukh Khan talking about spirituality and food.

It is part of the holy kitchen film series that looks at different religions and their food customs. The film aims to bind together the meaning of food in religion with the real world experience of sharing food in a spiritual context.

The documentary takes a look at Ramzan, the Muslim month of fasting, when adherents of Islam enjoy their favourite foods after breaking their fast at sunset and communities are drawn together in sharing the feast foods at iftar.

Says Vikas, “I was with Shah Rukh Khan for the shoot of the film. He spoke about food and spirituality. It was an amazing experience to see him talk about his food belief in reference to iftar.”

The film is slated to have a DVD release in the coming months and Vikas, who was also part of an Indian culinary show on television, is slated to be in Mumbai soon.

Adds Vikas, “We began work on the project a few month back and we took Shah Rukh Khan’s inputs as well. He also gave an elaborate interview and spoke about his Eid parties. It proved to be a great source of information from a big star.”

As the chef puts it, “When we share food in a spiritual setting, it draws us closer to our creator as well as to each other. A simple dish becomes much more than a simple bowl of food when shared with others.”

The aim of the chef’s project is to make people aware of the world’s religious traditions that can pave the way for mutual respect.

The first film in the holy kitchen series is based on langars, the Sikh community kitchens. Other projects are based upon the food traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Judaism.

Shahrukh Khan's Prayag Film City, the eighth wonder of the world!

Superstar Shahrukh Khan, who was present at the inauguration of the first phase of Prayag Film City in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal, dreams it big for the film city. Talking to the media, Khan said that the Prayag Film City is going to be a "wonder of the world". Shahrukh is the brand ambassador of the Prayag Film City, which will soon turn one-stop destination for the filmmakers. Talking about his own dream, the superstar said, "The biggest dream of my life has always been to try and make an international class studio for this country, not for profit, but for the fact that India makes the maximum number of films that are seen around the world.”

Emphasising the importance of a film city, SRK said that our nation lacks world-class infrastructure and facilities. But now, it seems like the actor's dream will soon get fulfilled. Prayag Film City is spread over a sprawling campus of 2,700 acres at Chandrakona, 165 km away from Kolkata. It has sound-proof studio floors for outdoor shooting locations, a helipad, railway station with bogies, golf course, swimming pool, water bodies, tree-house, restaurants, cottages, manicured parks and other facilities.

I am not an entrepreneur, sports and film making my two passions: SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who co-owns the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL franchisee and runs a film production house, on Sunday said he was not an entrepreneur but an actor who endeavours to make a difference with his acting.

“I am hardly an entrepreneur. I don’t even think of myself
as a star. I see myself as someone who is trying to make a difference with his acting,” said Khan addressing the media at the inauguration of Prayag Film City (PFC) in West Midnapore’s Chandrakona, some 130 km from Kolkata.

“I come from a middle-class background. I like to work 18-20 hours a day and for the last 30 years I have been following this schedule. I have two passions: sports and film making. I have a production house and a cricket franchisee,” said Khan.

Khan, who was present at the curtain raiser of the phase-1 of the sprawling PFC, said the facility will make a difference to the art of film making not only in eastern India but to the entire film fraternity of the country.

“I feel the film city will become a one stop film making centre where you come with a good story and go out with a great film.”

He has also been signed in as the brand ambassador the PFC.

The actor also regaled the gathering with some of his famous dialogues from his films Don, Baazigar and Devdas and danced to a popular song from the movie Ra-One.

Make US aware of who Shah Rukh Khan.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has voiced strong support for fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan after he was detained for close to two hours at an airport in the United States on Friday.

Providing a balanced view on the issue, Amitabh said, "We all have to follow the procedures of every country. I too have been through a round of questioning and there is nothing wrong with it.

"But to do it deliberately is wrong. The system should be changed if it happens repeatedly. These people (the US) should be made aware about SRK."

Shah Rukh was stopped at a New York airport by US immigration department officials while he was on his way to address students at Yale University. He was released only after the intervention of the Indian Consulate General.

This was the second time SRK was detained at a US airport. The Indian Foreign Ministry said it will take up the matter with its American counter-part.

Junior Chopra turns Shahrukh Khan's love guide!

Bollywood's eternal love guru Yash Chopra's shoes are no longer too big for his son Aditya Chopra. The Junior Chopra too has inherited his father's quality to direct love scenes succesfully.

If sources are to be believed, Aditya Chopra is helping his father to direct the romantic scenes in Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif's upcoming untitled flick. For decades now, Yash Chopra has been admired for his unique depiction of romance in his movies. But now it seems son Adi is all set to take over his dad.

If reports are to be believed, Katrina wants to go Kajol's way. Since Shahrukh is called the 'King of Romance', Kats want to rekindle the similar on-screen magic with SRK, as the latter did with yesteryear actresses like Kajol and Madhuri Dixit. In fact, even Katrina too is very happy with the way the romantic scenes are getting shaped up by Adi. Witnessing this, we are sure Aditya will soon turn SRK's love guide.

Shah Rukh Khan's detention: US apologises, India talks tough

NEW DELHI: The US customs and border protection authorities have expressed "profound" apologies for the Shah Rukh Khan detention incident.

However, taking the incident seriously, external affairs minister SM Krishna has asked the Indian ambassador to US, Nirupama Rao, to take up the matter with the authorities.

Reacting strongly to the detention, Krishna said it has become a policy of detention and apology by the US which cannot continue.

Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan was detained at a New York airport for over two hours by immigration officials after arriving from India in a private plane with Nita Ambani, to address students at Yale University here.

While Nita, wife of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, and the rest of their group were cleared immediately, Khan was stopped and was given immigration clearance only after about two hours, sources told PTI.

46-year-old Khan was to address a press conference at 2pm and deliver his lecture at 4pm at the Yale University.

However, he arrived for the press meet three hours behind schedule and his hour-long lecture started at about 6pm.

"Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kicked the star out of stardom," Khan said with some sarcasm addressing the students at the University.

He added that he always has his "small victories" even in such circumstances.

"They (immigration officials) always ask me how tall I am and I always lie and say 5 feet 10 inches. Next time I am going to get more adventurous. (If they ask me) What colour are you, I am going to say white," Khan said.

Earlier, when informed about Khan being held up at the White Plains airport in New York, Yale University officials "contacted and spoke with officials at the Department of Homeland Security and Department of US Immigration and Customs in Washington," the sources said.

They added that Khan was "very very upset" at the episode and it "took time for the university officials to make him comfortable again."

The actor, who is scheduled to fly back to India later on Friday night, visited Connecticut-based Yale University, which had conferred him with its prestigious Chubb fellowship.

As part of the fellowship, Khan addressed a gathering of hundreds of Yale students, parents, faculty and other members of the Indian-American community at the Yale campus.

Before beginning his address to the students, Khan, dressed in a chic black suit, said that it had been a long flight and thanked Ambani for getting him to the US.

Ambani's daughter Isha is a student at Yale and is also president of the South Asian Society at the university.

Khan went on to say that he was "detained at the airport as always."

"It was nice, as it always happens," Khan said with a slight smile even as students in the audience gave out a large sigh and booed the US authorities when they heard Khan telling them he was detained.

While Khan told the students he was stopped for about an hour and a half, sources said he was at the airport for over two hours.

They said he told them that this is not the first time he has been stopped at an airport in the country and this has happened to him "three to four times before."

The most recent one was in 2009 when Khan was detained at the Newark Airport in New Jersey.

Khan had said at the time he was detained for nearly two hours at the Newark International Airport because of his last name.

The private plane carrying Khan, Ambani and their group landed at White Plains Airport, which is about 53 kilometres from Manhattan, at around 12:45 in the afternoon.

Sources said while everyone with him cleared immigration soon, he was stopped and had to wait till 2:30pm before he was cleared by the immigration.

The sources said since the White Plains airport is a small facility, everyone who was with Khan waited together for him to get his clearance.

The detention had caused "tense" moments for Khan and his team, who sources said were "struggling" to get the situation sorted out.

Khan did not mention anything about the detention during the nearly 20 minute press conference.

Members of his team as well as the university officials too did not talk about the reasons for his detention.

When contacted, Khan said through a member of his team that he would not make any comments on the episode.

The person said Khan stressed that the American immigration officials "kick the star out of stardom," adding that the episode had left a bad taste.

Shahrukh Khan detained US airport.

Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan said he was detained for two hours at a New York airport on Thursday.

He arrived at New York's White Plain airport in a private plane on Thursday to deliver a lecture at Yale University. According to officials, Khan was stopped for two hours for his immigration clearance.

The university officials had to intervene and get Khan out of the airport with the help of the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigration and Customs Department in Washington.

While addressing the students at the university, Khan confirmed the news and said he was 'detained' at the airport 'as it always happens'.

In 2009, Khan was detained and grilled for two hours at Newark Airport as he was heading to Chicago to participate in an Independence Day celebration.

Shah Rukh Khan Pampers Katrina Kaif On Yash Chopra Film Sets

This piece of news is sure to make the Dabangg Salman Khan flex his muscles and crack his knuckles with jealousy. It seems that Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, who were shooting for Yash Chopra's untitled romantic flick in London, hit it off instantly to the extent that the generous King Khan started pampering the pretty Kat with gifts!

Sources claim that not only did SRK make his staff buy jackets for Katrina to keep her warm during the freezing London schedule, he also gifted her a gym bag with a card that read 'Have a great workout' after getting to know that Kaif was looking to buy a gym bag for herself.

However, this is not where it ends. Sources also say that Khan asked his bodyguards to stay by Kaif's side and make sure that she wasn't mobbed by aggressive fans. On her part, Katrina also seems to hold Shah Rukh Khan in high regard. "She loves talking to him and often asks his advice for professional as well as personal advice," a source was quoted to have said.

We wonder what does a certain Bodyguard has to say about these new developments…
