SRK's turns to play a Cop.

Kamal Haasan wants him to reprise his role in a tamil remake

If there's one role that B'wood actors love to play it's that of a cop. Ask the Big B who was a cop in several films, or Sallu, Ajay Devgn or Akshay Kumar who all went on to enjoy phenomenal success at the BO with their policeman acts. Call it his late entry to action films or bad luck SRK hasn't been able to get too many offers for playing a cop (the only one being the flop 'One 2 Ka 4'). But all that could change soon.

Rumour has it that south Indian veteran Kamal Haasan wants SRK to play his role in the remake of his Tamil film 'Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu,' that became a cult hit in 2006. In the movie Kamal played a police officer who has to figure out the culprit behind a series of rapes and murders.

Apparently, the director of the movie Gautam Menon (who already has a remake of his Tamil film titled 'Ek Deewana Tha,' starring Prateik Babbar hitting the theatres in February) was keen on taking Kamal's opinion on the lead actor in the Hindi version. Kamal immediately named SRK as the apt choice. That Kamal chose SRK doesn't seem surprising. The two share a good friendship that started when SRK agreed to do a cameo in the Kamal's film 'Hey Ram' back in 2000.

When Filmmaker Gautam Menon was approached for comment he confirmed the news and dismissed rumours of him considering Salman for the remake. Surprisingly, it is believed SRK hasn't signed the project yet. Sources close to him say he is hesitant because arch rival Aamir is already playing a cop in 'Talaash'.

10 Reasons Why Shah Rukh Khan Is The King Of Bollywood

Firstly, I wish to clarify that this article is not against Salman Khan or any other Bollywood actor. It is just my view, the view of a die-hard SRK fan. I accept that Salman Khan was good in his films like Wanted, Dabangg and Ready. I even accept that Aamir Khan was good in 3 idiots. But when it comes to choosing one from so many, I just love SRK. Here’s why…

Shah Rukh Khan: A Self Made Personality

Unlike many of current crop of Hindi cinema stars, who came from film families, King Khan was born in a middle class family in Delhi. His father ran a transport company and his mother was a magistrate. He was 15 years old when his father passed away due to cancer; his treatment had been expensive due to which their family business collapsed. Shah Rukh’s mother worked day and night to build the business back but never insisted that her son follow her into it. He came to Mumbai and started his career with a small advertisement assignment.

Shah Rukh Khan: Not Naturally Gifted

Shah Rukh Khan is not an obvious Bollywood hero. He can dance but not as elegantly as other actors. He is also not as good-looking as other Bollywood stars such as Hrithik Roshan. His only power is his acting.

Shah Rukh Khan: A Family Man

Despite being in the industry for more the 17 years and in spite of being called the king of romance, SRK is a very honest and decent human being. More often than not, we hear stories that the lead pair of a film is having an affair. But for SRK, we have never come across such stories or rumours. Also, no actress ever has had any problem working with him, over these many years. Not surprisingly, he is the favourite co-star of almost all his female co-actresses.

Shah Rukh Khan: Great Friend

We all know that in many of his films there were special appearances of SRK’s friends. His friends never say ‘no’ to him. But he knows well how to return the favour.

Shah Rukh Khan: Attitude When Needed

This is a point which I would like to mention about Shah Rukh Khan is that he is cool, he is nice. But, he is quite arrogant too and that is absolutely fine when you are such a huge superstar. He did not apologize to Shiv Sena when felt he was not on the wrong side, even if it had a negative effect on the release of My Name Is Khan in Maharashtra.

Shah Rukh Khan: Versatile & Successful Actor

Many do not consider Shah Rukh Khan as a versatile actor as they see him only as a romantic hero. However, if one digs deeper into his films, one realises that SRK has done and can do any kind of role. From the lover boy as Raj in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, to the patriotic Rahul in the Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani; from the cunning detective in Baadshah to the stylish Don in Don 2; from the music professor in Mohabbatein to evil lover in Darr. And who can forget his role as a superhero in the Ra.One. King Khan has really done a variety of roles.

He is also the star who is the most successful at the box-office. His last flop was seven years ago, Paheli (2005).

Shah Rukh Khan: Stage Performances

King Khan, with his humour and elegant style, is known to entertain millions of people watching him in different award functions and stage shows. We all know that he is the best host in India. No award function can be boring if it is hosted by Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan: Brand Image

In India, no other celebrity has more brands associated to his name. Moreover, as we saw during the promotion of Ra.One, a never before kind of campaign was conducted by him, with at least 50 various brands in tie-up for promotion of the film.

Shah Rukh Khan: Overseas Popularity

Not all the Bollywood stars are popular abroad. Most of them are like lions in their own den. But King Khan is an exception. Mostly, all his films are hits abroad and are well received there by critics as well as the public. Besides, he is more popular than any other Indian Personality globally.

Shah Rukh Khan: Dream Debut For Actresses Paired With Him

All say that Salman Khan has been known to launch new actresses. But two of the top actresses today (Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone) have debuted opposite the King Khan. Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta also made their debuts with Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh won’t romance Katrina?

The unthinkable is finally happening or so we assumed. In a casting coup of sorts, when Yash Chopra announced SRK-Katrina as his next leading couple, rumour mongers started speculating the 'side-effects' of this volatile pairing.

Until recently, when zoOm quizzed SRK about acting with Katrina, and he had a shocking revelation. Instead of answering questions about Kat, all he said was, "It's Yash Chopra's directorial venture, Anushka is my leading lady." He avoided talking about the other lovely lady in the film and brushed the questions off. Well, SRK's 'No Comment' only gets us more curious... And you can't blame us for it!

SRK goes bad

Mumbai: Not that a journalist is new to disrespect shown by Bollywood celebs, a scribe recently bore the brunt from an otherwise media friendly star, none other than Shah Rukh Khan.

SRK is known to conduct himself impeccably with his fans and the media; however he lost his cool when this reporter supposedly touched a raw nerve of the actor.

The incident took place at a party held for the nominees of a prestigious awards ceremony. The superstar was giving interviews to a TV channel when this reporter asked him about his personal equation with Juhi Chawla.

“It was a casual question and not meant to give offence. But SRK seemed enraged. Things reached a head when he verbally abused the hapless reporter, who just froze,” a witness recounted while talking to a daily.

The officials connected to the awards didn’t want word of the incident to leak out — understandably, they don’t want to further upset SRK. “Shah Rukh anyway seemed to be in a bad mood, and the reporter’s question ticked him off,” said a source.

Well looks like when the going gets tough, SRK goes bad.

Shahrukh Khan and Imran Khan together in ‘Vettai’ remake?

The recently released Tamil hit Vettai will soon be remade in Hindi with Shahrukh Khan and Imran Khan in the lead

UTV Motion Pictures’ Vettai was a blockbuster down south, so now they intend to remake the film in Hindi with Shahrukh Khan and Imran Khan in the lead. But actor R Madhavan who was part of the original film is miffed with the makers for not considering him in the Hindi remake. Ain’t that rude?Madhavan and Arya played brothers in Vettai, where one is a cop and the other is a hoodlum. The Jodi Breakers actor feels that being a popular face in both Hindi and Tamil cinema, he should be playing the lead role in the Hindi version as well. On the other hand, Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures says that they’ve not yet finalised the lead actors. But a Bollywood remake is definitely in order since it raked moolah down south.

Wethinks casting Shahrukh and Imran would surely be the novelty factor. But will Imran be able to pull off a ruffian’s character? Considering the Delhi Belly actor has seen little or no success in the non-romantic films (Kidnap and Luck), we wonder if it’s the right decision to cast him in the said role. Also, will SRK play a cop well? Nonetheless, we hope the filmmakers make a sound decision and don’t let us down with the final product.

Kamal Haasan wants Shah Rukh Khan for Menon`s remake

Mumbai: If Kamal Haasan had his way, superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be the only actor to step into his shoes for the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon`s Tamil film ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’.

Shah Rukh is currently in a dilemma as he has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil films – ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ and A.R. Murugadoss`s ‘Ramanna’. Both offer the picky King Khan a chance to do something he hasn`t done before - a south Indian remake with parts that he hasn`t tried before.

"While Murugadoss`s film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon`s film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair`s ‘One 2 Ka 4’ and that too, a plain-clothed cop. SRK has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform.

This, ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ will let him do," said a source.
Haasan, who played the role of the cop on the lookout for a serial killer in the original movie ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’, has expressed keen interest in Shah Rukh reprising the role in the film`s Hindi version.

"Kamalji is extremely fond of Shah Rukh. They go back a long way to the time when 12 years ago Shah Rukh agreed to do Kamalji`s ‘Hey Ram’ free of cost. When director Gautham Menon, who understandably respects Kamalji`s opinion, asked the thespian who should play his role in the Hindi remake, Kamalji promptly gave Shah Rukh`s name," said a source close to the project.

Menon confirmed his eagerness to cast Shah Rukh and said: "I don`t know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ are coming from. It`s Shah Rukh Khan, who is the first and only choice. Kamalji played the part in the Tamil original. So Shah Rukh seems the right candidate for the part."

There is another reason why Salman was eliminated early from the race to play the cop in Menon`s film. Salman has already done the khaki bit several times over.

"Shah Rukh in khaki is a novelty. Salman has been there and done it many times. Shah Rukh is our man for the part," said the source. Apparently, ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ will explore the same dark noire cop-killer space as Aamir Khan`s ‘Talaash’.
A source close to the project says that the only reason Shah Rukh has not given a final nod to Menon`s remake is because he wants to see how ‘Talaash’ is received by the audiences.

Shah Rukh Khan shows his love for Gauri

SRK has his ways of putting rumours to rest and proving everything's fine between him and Gauri Khan.

For everyone working overtime contemplating problems in Shah Rukh Khan's paradise, King Khan has proved that he is an eternal romantic and loyal lover not just onscreen but also off-screen, in personal life.

Recently rumours were rife that there seem to be some problems between the steady couple Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan because of SRK's over-friendliness with Priyanka Chopra. The sizzling chemistry between the Don costars was said to have transpired beyond the silver screen. Shah Rukh never reacted to these reports but had his own way of putting the rumours to rest.

Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan had recently been to an awards function in foreign lands and their camaraderie at the after party seemed just out of a Bollywood love story. A source present at the party said, "Shah Rukh invited Gauri for a dance and expectedly she graced the dance floor. The couple indulged in a love-soaked ball-dance on some beautiful numbers and their chemistry was for everyone to see".

We must say Shah Rukh Khan clearly knows how to silence his detractors without speaking a word!

I’ll be there for my team: Shah Rukh Khan

After returning from an awards function in Macau, actor Shah Rukh Khan will head straight to the studios to resume shooting for Yash Chopra's directorial comeback. The untitled Diwali release, which sees Chopra behind the camera after a gap of seven years, went on the floors on January 9.

"I've just started working with Katrina (actor Katrina Kaif). She puts in a lot of effort to make her character look and sound believable," says Shah Rukh, minutes after finishing his anchoring gig at Colors' Screen Awards that took place in Mumbai recently. "I'm working with Yashji after a long time and it's been a breeze."

The upcoming schedule of the film is likely to start in London. Another schedule is due in April, when the love story's second leading lady, Anushka Sharma, will join the cast and crew.

Meanwhile, back home, an auction for cricket players for the Indian Premier League's fifth edition is likely to be held on February 4. The tournament flags off on April 4 in Chennai.

Given his tight shooting schedules, will SRK make it to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) matches this time? "I don't know my exact schedule yet. So, I don't know where I'll be on the day of the auctions," he says, adding, "But regardless of what I'm doing, I will be there for my team with my friends and family, cheering the way I have been for the last four seasons. Our boys have been practicing hard and the team has shaped up well. The credit goes to the coach and the players who've been putting in a lot of time and energy."

Kolkata Knight Riders had lost a couple of players to Kochi Tuskers Kerala, a new team that entered the fourth season of the tournament. Now that it has been dissolved, a couple of KKR's old players will be available at the auctions. "It would be nice to see some of our old faces play for us again," says Shah Rukh, adding, "But even if we don't manage to get any of them back, we're looking fine. Our last season put a smile on our faces. This time, we just intend to make that smile bigger."

SRK, Katrina show off their chemistry
Shah Rukh Khan faces the camera with Katrina Kaif, who happens to be close to his rival, actor Salman Khan, for the first time for Yash Chopra's film. While details, including the film's storyline and music, are being kept under wraps, SRK gave a glimpse of his on-screen chemistry with Katrina at a recent award show. When asked if the duo had become friends, he says, "We haven't become best friends but she's a nice girl to work with. And we never dig into the past (the popular Salman-SRK squabble)."

Ask Katrina about working with SRK and Salman in the same calendar year, and she says, "I don't take work from one set to the other. Shah Rukh and Salman are my co-stars and I respect them equally and immensely.
