Make US aware of who Shah Rukh Khan.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has voiced strong support for fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan after he was detained for close to two hours at an airport in the United States on Friday.

Providing a balanced view on the issue, Amitabh said, "We all have to follow the procedures of every country. I too have been through a round of questioning and there is nothing wrong with it.

"But to do it deliberately is wrong. The system should be changed if it happens repeatedly. These people (the US) should be made aware about SRK."

Shah Rukh was stopped at a New York airport by US immigration department officials while he was on his way to address students at Yale University. He was released only after the intervention of the Indian Consulate General.

This was the second time SRK was detained at a US airport. The Indian Foreign Ministry said it will take up the matter with its American counter-part.

Junior Chopra turns Shahrukh Khan's love guide!

Bollywood's eternal love guru Yash Chopra's shoes are no longer too big for his son Aditya Chopra. The Junior Chopra too has inherited his father's quality to direct love scenes succesfully.

If sources are to be believed, Aditya Chopra is helping his father to direct the romantic scenes in Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif's upcoming untitled flick. For decades now, Yash Chopra has been admired for his unique depiction of romance in his movies. But now it seems son Adi is all set to take over his dad.

If reports are to be believed, Katrina wants to go Kajol's way. Since Shahrukh is called the 'King of Romance', Kats want to rekindle the similar on-screen magic with SRK, as the latter did with yesteryear actresses like Kajol and Madhuri Dixit. In fact, even Katrina too is very happy with the way the romantic scenes are getting shaped up by Adi. Witnessing this, we are sure Aditya will soon turn SRK's love guide.

Shah Rukh Khan's detention: US apologises, India talks tough

NEW DELHI: The US customs and border protection authorities have expressed "profound" apologies for the Shah Rukh Khan detention incident.

However, taking the incident seriously, external affairs minister SM Krishna has asked the Indian ambassador to US, Nirupama Rao, to take up the matter with the authorities.

Reacting strongly to the detention, Krishna said it has become a policy of detention and apology by the US which cannot continue.

Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan was detained at a New York airport for over two hours by immigration officials after arriving from India in a private plane with Nita Ambani, to address students at Yale University here.

While Nita, wife of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, and the rest of their group were cleared immediately, Khan was stopped and was given immigration clearance only after about two hours, sources told PTI.

46-year-old Khan was to address a press conference at 2pm and deliver his lecture at 4pm at the Yale University.

However, he arrived for the press meet three hours behind schedule and his hour-long lecture started at about 6pm.

"Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kicked the star out of stardom," Khan said with some sarcasm addressing the students at the University.

He added that he always has his "small victories" even in such circumstances.

"They (immigration officials) always ask me how tall I am and I always lie and say 5 feet 10 inches. Next time I am going to get more adventurous. (If they ask me) What colour are you, I am going to say white," Khan said.

Earlier, when informed about Khan being held up at the White Plains airport in New York, Yale University officials "contacted and spoke with officials at the Department of Homeland Security and Department of US Immigration and Customs in Washington," the sources said.

They added that Khan was "very very upset" at the episode and it "took time for the university officials to make him comfortable again."

The actor, who is scheduled to fly back to India later on Friday night, visited Connecticut-based Yale University, which had conferred him with its prestigious Chubb fellowship.

As part of the fellowship, Khan addressed a gathering of hundreds of Yale students, parents, faculty and other members of the Indian-American community at the Yale campus.

Before beginning his address to the students, Khan, dressed in a chic black suit, said that it had been a long flight and thanked Ambani for getting him to the US.

Ambani's daughter Isha is a student at Yale and is also president of the South Asian Society at the university.

Khan went on to say that he was "detained at the airport as always."

"It was nice, as it always happens," Khan said with a slight smile even as students in the audience gave out a large sigh and booed the US authorities when they heard Khan telling them he was detained.

While Khan told the students he was stopped for about an hour and a half, sources said he was at the airport for over two hours.

They said he told them that this is not the first time he has been stopped at an airport in the country and this has happened to him "three to four times before."

The most recent one was in 2009 when Khan was detained at the Newark Airport in New Jersey.

Khan had said at the time he was detained for nearly two hours at the Newark International Airport because of his last name.

The private plane carrying Khan, Ambani and their group landed at White Plains Airport, which is about 53 kilometres from Manhattan, at around 12:45 in the afternoon.

Sources said while everyone with him cleared immigration soon, he was stopped and had to wait till 2:30pm before he was cleared by the immigration.

The sources said since the White Plains airport is a small facility, everyone who was with Khan waited together for him to get his clearance.

The detention had caused "tense" moments for Khan and his team, who sources said were "struggling" to get the situation sorted out.

Khan did not mention anything about the detention during the nearly 20 minute press conference.

Members of his team as well as the university officials too did not talk about the reasons for his detention.

When contacted, Khan said through a member of his team that he would not make any comments on the episode.

The person said Khan stressed that the American immigration officials "kick the star out of stardom," adding that the episode had left a bad taste.

Shahrukh Khan detained US airport.

Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan said he was detained for two hours at a New York airport on Thursday.

He arrived at New York's White Plain airport in a private plane on Thursday to deliver a lecture at Yale University. According to officials, Khan was stopped for two hours for his immigration clearance.

The university officials had to intervene and get Khan out of the airport with the help of the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigration and Customs Department in Washington.

While addressing the students at the university, Khan confirmed the news and said he was 'detained' at the airport 'as it always happens'.

In 2009, Khan was detained and grilled for two hours at Newark Airport as he was heading to Chicago to participate in an Independence Day celebration.

Shah Rukh Khan Pampers Katrina Kaif On Yash Chopra Film Sets

This piece of news is sure to make the Dabangg Salman Khan flex his muscles and crack his knuckles with jealousy. It seems that Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, who were shooting for Yash Chopra's untitled romantic flick in London, hit it off instantly to the extent that the generous King Khan started pampering the pretty Kat with gifts!

Sources claim that not only did SRK make his staff buy jackets for Katrina to keep her warm during the freezing London schedule, he also gifted her a gym bag with a card that read 'Have a great workout' after getting to know that Kaif was looking to buy a gym bag for herself.

However, this is not where it ends. Sources also say that Khan asked his bodyguards to stay by Kaif's side and make sure that she wasn't mobbed by aggressive fans. On her part, Katrina also seems to hold Shah Rukh Khan in high regard. "She loves talking to him and often asks his advice for professional as well as personal advice," a source was quoted to have said.

We wonder what does a certain Bodyguard has to say about these new developments…

Are Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra no longer friends?

Nasty rumours, gossips and a whisper campaign were enough to break their relationship. B-town's Don-junglee billi's super hot jodi seems no where around now. Yes, we are talking about the alleged relationship between Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka, who would once blush at the very sight of her childhood crush SRK, is even scared of uttering his name today. Keeping their so-called 'special relationship' in mind, it was expected that PC would cheer for Shahrukh's KKR team. But a smart Piggy played it safe by saying, "I have many Bollywood friends who own IPL teams. There is Preity, Shilpa so I am going to be cheering for all of them." Well PC's statement makes it clear that there isn't any hint about she supporting Khan's IPL team.

In fact, few days back, when the media pouched on the actress over her 'blushing episode' on SRK, Priyanka made it clear that Shahrukh doesn't make her blush. "Shahrukh Khan doesn't make me blush. I don't remember saying any of that,” the 29-year-old actress said.

While PC is almost sidelined by the Bollywood star wives, SRK is reportedly going through a dark phase of his personal life. Hence, it looks like the super couple is trying their best  to dilute all such romantic speculations and rumours that are making headlines daily.

Shah Rukh Khan Approached To Play Hockey Legend Dhyan Chand In Biopic

Actors these days surely seem to be lining up to play characters in biopics. After Irrfan played athlete turned rebel Paan Singh Tomar and Farhan Akhtar gearing up to play athlete Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, it seems superstar Shah Rukh Khan might also jump on the biopic bandwagon.

Sources claim that a biopic on hockey legend Dhyan Chand is on the cards and none other that Shah Rukh Khan has been approached to play the sportsman. Confirming the news, Khan was quoted to have said, "Yes, I have been approached for a movie based on legendary Dhayn Chandji's life. Hockey as a sport is not new to me and I have played a lot of hockey during my school and college days." Khan however claimed that he has not yet given the nod to the project.

Incidentally, the King Khan played a hockey player turned coach in Chak De India, which went on to become a major hit and is considered one of the finest sports based movie in Bollywood.

SRK to step into the shoes of Dhyan Chand?

The biopics on legendary sportsmen seem to be the flavour of the season. After Paan Singh Tomar and Bhaag Mikha Bhaag, a film on legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand is the pipeline. If all goes well, Shah Rukh Khan will portray the role of the legend in the film.

SRK comes as a natural choice considering his natural inclination for the sports as he has been both hockey and soccer captain in his college days. A film on Dhyan Chand, who is most likely to be awarded with Bharat Ratna this year, will be Khan’s second film on the sport after Chak De India in 2007.

Interestingly, meanwhile, there are other filmmakers like Satyajeet Puri who too who are keen to put the life of Chand on celluloid under the production banner of Manmohan Shetty’s Walkwater Media. So, it will be interesting to wait and watch whether SRK will really pay tribute to the sportsman or some other actor will do the honours.

Shah Rukh Khan's life and work to be in focus at Yale

Actor Shahrukh Khan's public persona and life, beyond his Bollywood successes, will be the focus of his interaction with students and faculty of Yale University when he visits the prestigious US institution later this week on a fellowship.

Khan will visit Yale on April 12 as a Chubb fellow, considered among Yale's highest honours. His day will include interactions with students, faculty and a public lecture at the university.

The Chubb fellowship so far has been bestowed on heads of states, Nobel prize winners and public leaders from every walk of life.

George Joseph, assistant secretary of international affairs at Yale, said Khan's day at the Connecticut-based Ivy league university would not be focussed solely around his Bollywood career but will give students a chance to discuss with him the challenges that shaped his career path and his contributions to social causes.

The interaction with Khan is "not going to be focused around his Bollywood career but on the issues he has taken up over the years in his public life as well as in in his movies. This is a chance for students to get a sense of him as an individual and understand the kinds of passion he has, including the work he has done in the fields of education, health and environment," Joseph told PTI.

He said since Chubb fellows are distinguished persons from every walk of life, a key aspect of the fellowship is interaction with students. Chubb fellows are role models for Yale students who have contributed significantly through their work to the public life.

"Khan represents a model of public life. Through his films and philanthropy, the Chubb fellowship noted that Khan has been among his generation's most important examples of the power of art to promote higher human ideals and inspirations," the university said.

It is not just Khan's Bollywood success that is an attraction for Yale's students. He has engaged in philanthropy in different ways and used his public role to advance common good, Joseph added.

With a strong population of Indian students, Yale has been focussing on strengthening its involvement with India over the past few years. Indians constitute the second largest number of international students at Yale after China. "There is a growing interest in everything South Asia at Yale," Joseph said.

In this context, Yale students had been keen on inviting Khan to the university. As a public figure in India, Khan is an inspiration to millions in the country and as Yale students prepare themselves for their respective calling in public life, they can learn a lot from the way Khan has shaped his career, Joseph said.

Khan's visit this week is the culmination of efforts that started in 2008-09, when students first discussed the idea to invite him to the university.

The visit will be one of the rare occasions when Khan will address a forum for students outside India and the excitement at the university is unprecedented. Seats for a 2000-capacity theatre, where Khan will deliver his 90-minute lecture, were booked wit hin two days of the announcement.

Joseph said the university has been receiving inquires about the visit from people across the US.

"It is not just the south Asians who are eagerly waiting for Khan's visit. Khan is a global phenomenon and everyone at Yale is eager to listen to one of the world's most popular movie stars," he said.
